Quite often, companies have a specific training programs for their managers with varying legnths of time in which you will be trained. It could be 6 months to 2 years before you are actually a manager.

It simply means that you are being trained for management. but keep in mind you are still NOT management. You will have to prove yourself to your immediate supervisor, as he or she will be the one to promote you.
