Do anybody like working telemarketing jobs and is the pay good?
Answer:
It depends on the company. Some will pay a base rate + commissions per sale; while others work on commission basis.
My husband was head of a telemarketing firm before. When he operated their Los Angeles office, their working hours was from 12 noon - 9 pm. When he moved to Virginia, their office hours became 6 pm to 12 midnight (they'd call East Coast first from 6-9 pm them move westward until 12 midnight, which is only 9 pm in the West Coast)
Given that telemarketing works best when the people are in their homes, which means after office hours. The hours of work is dependent on where you live.
But it is a STRESSFUL job. If you don't mind being shouted at on the phone or someone cutting you off in mid-sentence, this is a job for you.
Their main clients were the big phone companies. He had sales reps that did really really well (and earned big) while he also had laggards in his team that could hardly make a sale in one day.
I worked in telemarketing for maybe a week and a half. The reason I quit? A man was blatantly masturbating to the sound of my voice.
It is an extremely stressful job. I'm sure they all work differently, but my employer paid $9/hour and then commission based on how many leads were actually completed. And it took over a month on average for a lead to complete. I wasn't at the company anymore, so I didn't get the money.
If your friend can handle criticism and doesn't take it personally, then she will do fine, but it is one of the most stressful jobs I've ever done!
