A 16 yr old in full time education, how many hours a week can they work?

they are also getting EMA (education maintainance allowance). i want to know the LEGAL guidelines.

Answer:
combination of school hours + work hours <40 hours per week.
In Rep. Of Ireand a person 16 or over in full time education can work for 35hours a week but must be finished work by 10pm. He/She can't work on weekends or holidays for more thatn 8hours a day until 18 or over.
Hope that helps.
well im 17 and a student and get ema, i dont have a job yet but alot of my freinds do. I know someone who is 16 and he works saturday and sunday from 9-6 on saturday, and a few hours on sunday. Well his contract is 12 hours. And my other freind who is 17 has 2 jobs after college or in the weekends as well as being in college, so if they can do it then it is not illegal i suppose, but u get paid more when u turn 18.
i am 15 and i think the best work for a highs school student is that wich they can do on there free time.i work at http://www.cashcrate.com/index.php?ref=6. go there and sign up they will ask you to complete surveys and they will pay you for your time this is not a scam i have already made 625$ from it..i would love to answer any questions regarding to this just IM me
until she drops
If you are in the states, it was 20 hours a week. Things might have changed, though, in the last few years.
You'll be lucky if you can get them to do any work!
