Is it true that june 2007 each house will have to have a Home Energy Rating report and a Home Condition Report

Went for an interview as a house inspector but just want more information about the new Home Energy Rating and HomeCondition Reports that are supposidly being brought in next June 2007 by law.
I was told that housands of House inspectors will need to be trained for this job to tackle the 2 million houses in UK that will be on the market per annum. Apparently it is a gov backed training course to prepare you for surveying and house reports. Can anyone confirm that this will be happening. The job sounds too good to be true.
Thanks

Answer:
Yes, Home inspection is a new career resulting from the Housing Act 2004.

Home inspectors will be able to produce Energy Performance Certificates and Home Condition Reports (HCRs) on homes offered for sale on the open market in England and Wales. These will make up part of the Home Information Pack (HIP), included within Part 5 of the Housing Act.

Voluntary schemes are already running, but from 1st June 2007 (may get pushed back a few months) Energy Performance Certificates will become mandatory as part of a phased roll-out of HIPs. See links below for further information. Other Questions and Answers:
