I am right now engineer 1, in a construction company. I want to go into management in construction field.?

How can i start with it. Should I take any course or should I gradually start taking more responsibilities and impress the management. Which one takes long, getting enough qualificaiton through study or venturing by taking more responsibilities.

Best answer: Go ask someone in your company (or similar company) how they did it. They will have the best advice. Then go ask your boss. Just tell them you're interested in advancing your career there since you love it there and want to become even more valuable. They'll usually help you out!

My suggestion would be for you to take a PMI Certification course. Project Management Institute. This will give you the knowledge on the business side. This encompassed with your work experience would be a benefit to any organization . Not to mention it will give you leverage when negotiating your salary.

Once you have a little work experience as a PM, I would move into a contracting role. This will allow you to gain industry knowledge from every angle. Good luck to you
