How do i write a cover letter for a job in the retail industry?

Answer:
Make sure that your cover letter is very specific for the job and company that you are applying to. Nothing is worse than getting a resume that is not only generic, but at times describing a job or company other than mine. Do your research. Tell them how much you want THEIR job and not just A job.
Describe yourself in terms of your interest in whatever the retail business is selling, your enjoyment of working with people and in general let the company know that you know what they do and what makes them better than other places
Whether it be a management job, sales associate, buyer, planner.retail human resources departments are slammed with resume submissions. Put a lot of energy into bullet-pointing your successes in your resume. Include some of these successes in your cover letter as they pertain to the job description of the job you are going for. Keep it short and simple. Do a little research on the company (hoovers.com) so you know them. There may even be a piece of news about the company that you can include in your cover letter. To quote my ex-girlfriend, Paris Hilton, "That's Hot."

You don't really need a cover letter for a retail job. I've written tons of them before, and they never got me noticed any faster than not having one. In fact, in the retail job that I finally got, I didn't include a cover letter, just a resume. However, I would suggest going and handing out resumes in person, and ask for the manager when you do it.again, that's how I got my job.
