I Have to be..?

Hi, I am 13 years old and I know exactly what I'm going to do. It's not that I want to. But I feel as if I HAve to be something dealing in Criminal justice. I'm not being pressured into it by a friend or anything but something inside me is telling me I've got to do this. I need to speak for those who can't. It's like I have a natural pull towards discovering the truth. Has this happend to anyone else? My mom says I'm too young to know what i'll be and my boyfriend gets mad when i bring it up because he says it's a dangerous career and he'd be worried about me 24/7. Please don't say "Oh your too young to decide." or "everyone goes through a police officer stage." This is more than that! I feel as if I have to be a lawyer or police officer or even a F.B.I agent. This happen to anyone else? I just wanted to know if this will work out for me.

Answer:
i've wanted to study in criminal justice since i was 10 years old and 5 years later i still want to. I plan on graduating in two in a half years, and going to college to get my degree in criminal justice just like my sis has done. I wanna be a police officer and there is nothing wrong with it and don't let people tell you that it's a stage because a lot of people told my sis and me that
People hardly do decide what they want to be when they are 13, but it's possible, don't let them tell you that it won't work out just because you are picking when you are young.
You can be anything you want to be. Go for it!
of course it will work out it happened to me once too.
You are way too young to decide, the person you are at 13, will be way different from the person you are at 16, and the person you are at 16 will be way different at 19, and the person you are at 19 will be way different from who you are at 22. Don't over think it, you're too young to. Enjoy your youth while you're young, you shouldnt be thinking about post secondary until youre 1 or 2 years away from graduating high school
no I didn't go through that. but it seems you are a very goal orientated young woman and that is good. your mom and your BF should just support you.
trust me sweety when you know.you know
it doesn't matter how old you are and it is good that you know now cause you can get a job in the field in the meantime and while you go to school to experience what it is really like and then that could seal the deal
you know, its a good thing you have that sense of direction. dont ever let anyone tell you you cant be what you want or need to be.
I think it's wonderful that you know what you want to do. I knew when I was in 4th grade that I wanted to be a writer . and here I am! My son is 14, and he knows he wants to be a pilot. He's already taking flying lessons to achieve his goal.

Keep working on your goal. You may change your mind, but that's OK. And don't worry about what your boyfriend things; chances are, he won't be in your life when you begin your career.

Good luck!
its beened to me and it work out and im want i thougth i would be. dont let anyone tell u anything esle because they dont konw how it feels, and also everyone has there purpuse in live maybe urs is in the law.
You're never too young to dream about the future.

However, many people change their minds as they grow older. They'll discover new talents, interests, and hobbies which may all affect the path you choose. In a few years, you may or may not decide to do something else. But don't let that, or anyone else tell you what can or can't do.

It's your life, and you may pick any career you please, as long as you work hard to get to it. Good luck!
this has happened to me. although, i didnt feel that i had to be a police officer. i've been unsure on what i'm going to do with my life, but i've felt that God has been pulling me towards a certain career for quite a while now, and i'm serisously planning on just going for it. sometimes you just have to go with your instinct.
Keep other options open, but if you want to do it go for it. I don't think it is too early to start looking at what you want. But shoot for the job that has the most education then if you just can't make it to that then you can fall back on whatever education level you can do.
Simple answer: it will work out for you if you work for it!

I've always wanted to be a lawyer. well. when I was five I wanted to be a train driver, but what young boy doesn't?! Anyway, when I was thirteen and just beginning secondary school, my Spanish class was given the task of working out how to describe our career ambitions. I will not trouble you with the Spanish but I stood up and read out my response - I wanted to be a lawyer.

Ten years later and sitting on my desk in front of me as I type this is the certificate confirming that I now hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice. I can now officially join a lawfirm and practice law (formalities and applications permitting of course!) I knew what I wanted to do at 13 and it was just the same as you. Work at it - talk with your teachers and careers advisers about it - find out how to get into the profession and unless you change your mind keep heading towards your goal.

If you do change your mind; pursue the new goal with equal vigour and you will get what you want!

Best of luck to you, Counsel!
There are other jobs that also "protect others that cant protect themselves' like victim advocates, counselors, children guardians in court or even things like missionary work. Going to another country and bringing medications and fresh water to people who are so close to dieing or losing loved ones to disease that here in the US can be cured with a simple pill. I think it is awesome that you really want to help others and show empathy most kids your age only care about themselves. Please keep this feeling close to your heart and follow your instincts.
I know what you're going through, but don't worry, god has a plan for you, god will give you a sign, just allow god to communicate with you, read the bible, go to church, and prey, and when you think you've gotten a sign, seek wise council, seek advice, not here on answers, talk to your parents, friends, etc. and see if they approve of it. god has a great plan for you, just put your life in his hands, and it'll be better then what you can make it in your own hands.
I think it is wonderful that you have a calling. I was called into being a librarian at your age.

It can work out for you if you stay focused. You need to keep your record clean, and do a lot of reading. Law has a big vocabulary and reading will help with that.
Hi, I think its very important to set goals for yourself and do whatever it takes to achieve those goals. I don't think you're to young to know what it is you want for your future. I think yes you should take classes that will help move you in the right direction to achieve your goals. Not everyone speaking from personal experience know what type of career they want to seek so if it is what you really want to do then I say go for it and good luck!!
