Forums: Am I liable for what I have said in a court?

http://www.indeed.com/forum/cmp/intelli-...

I might have wrote some bad stuff about my old company. They found out, and threatend to seek legal routes. Could I actually be in trouble?

Answers:
If you lied in court you can go to jail for perjudy.

Yes you can be sued for libel.

The damages could be minimal up to millions of dollars.
If you lie about them and what you say causes them to lose money they can sue you. If you lie, don't lie.
if you testified in court, you are liable for anything you said. you are also liable if you submitted any sworn affidavits. it's hard to comment as to whether you would be in trouble for something you wrote about your company since you did not state what you wrote. but generally, if you wrote about your opinions concerning your company, then you would not be liable because you are protected under the First Amendment. However, if you disclosed private company information (i.e. business practices, client information), then you may be liable because you've violated the company's privacy and business privileges.
