How do i get into a county job?

I am wanting to get into a county job, but I am finding it difficult to do so. What are some pointers or ways I can build up my resume? Any input, especially from those of you who are in this type of work, would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou.

Answer:
Government Jobs are usually required to post on the State Unemployment Site so that is a good place to start. They also must post openings at a central location so it might be good to check in at the Personnel office every few days to see if new positions have been added.
County jobs are often hard to get and unfortunately often require that you know someone in politics.
Monster , Yahoo Hotjobs, Careerbuilder are some of the largest job boards, where you can apply for jobs and upload your resume. Since Craigslist, allows free job postings, many smaller companies post their vacancies on this online classifieds website. You can also search for jobs from multiple websites using aggregators like SimplyHired and Indeed. Referrals are also becoming a increasingly popular way to get hired.
