Do you have to be 18 to work at a hotel?

I'm 16 and I want to get a summer job cleaning at a hotel, but someone told me you had to be 18 to work in hotels. Is that true?

Answers:
i'm 16 too and i called a few hotels about a concierge/receptionist job and they said 17 or 18.
I have friends who got jobs with the hilton in our area before they were 18. But it could just depend on each hotel. You might want to check with the hotels you are thinking of applying at to get a 100% answer.
well many years ago, my parents had a hetel in the 60s and early 70s and our emplyess were all 16 and over for summer jobs, but maybe the age changed i dont know, But explain that all you want is a summer job, and that you need some experience, maybe they will let you work, If not, well then iam sorry sweety, if the law is 18 then the law is 18
