I hate to admit this, but I don't know how to look for a job?

I mean jobs that more than flipping burgers or office manager, etc. I have really only had one job and I worked my way up to G.M. of the place. I make a nice sum of money but the owner and I have been really butting head in this down-turned economy. I want to find a new job but I try Monser.com and there doesn't seem to be jobs that fit right. I also hate to think I am one of a million resumes for each job. Do recruiters really work? I've heard horror stories about how they are just out for themselves and don't care about the people they are placing. Any help?

the easiest and surest way i know how to get a job is to work as a volunteer at the place you want to work in the future for a little bit, then it would give you experience and tahts a hands up over all teh other applications
i don't either, so don't feel so bad.
