Does an associates degree really make a difference?

depends on what you get your associates degree in
a regular AA is good for if you are going to transfer to a 4 year university to gain higher education
but many colleges offer AS and AAS programs that get you job ready for many different careers so the question is what is your interests and what job are you looking for. then you can take classes to further you education and skill for the workforce
so talk to a counselor at your local college and see what programs they have to offer.

I know a number of techies with associate degrees who work for top notch firms and earn exceptional money. I don't know if it holds true for non-tech fields.
Oh yes. With a degree you can always negotiate your pay upwards, depending on where you are hired
yeah cause it looks good on your resume.the company where i work at if you get a an AA or AS degree you get a raise regardless if it applies to your job or not
It doesn't hurt. My last employer liked that I had finished my A.A and was continuing for a bachelor's degree. It helped seal the deal, but I work as an independent contractor, so it really had no affect on my earnings. The paper can help you get connected and past that initial screening of applicants, after that it's really about how you interview, negotiate and perform - with an Associates or a Bachelor's Degree.
Yes it does make a difference because I have an Associates degree, but employers don't look at education anymore. They look at experience. So, if you are just a high school graduate and have no plans on going to a community college then you will earn $9. an hour. Not everyone here can afford a Bachelor's Degree so it matters a lot. i am looking for a clerical position and some employers want some kind of college education. So, it depends on education and experience.
I have a BS. Other people I work with have an Associates Degree and a few have an HS diploma with technical training. What's the difference between us?
I was hired with a BS and no experience. Another person was hired with an Associates Degree and nine years experience. A third person was hired with an HS diploma, technical training, and twenty years experience. We all got hired for the exact same job.
Ten years later, I'm much higher up the career ladder. I learned how to meet deadlines and how to find unique solutions to problems. The person with the Associates Degree waits to be told what to do when he hits a problem. The guy with the HS diploma just stops working if there's a problem. He doesn't even report it. He just kicks back.
Also, there are certain promotions which neither of them can qualify for without a BS. They have both tapped out their earnings potential with the company. I'm being looked at for a management position.
The BS is definitely worth it.
