What to do when you know that you are about to lose your JOB?

When I came into work yesterday my boss who is stationed in Boston was present in our offices. Without telling anyone or posting on the calendar she was going to be here, she basically just showed up!
Today everyone is still wondering what called her out for the sudden visit.
She informed me this morning that she was going to be very busy today & would be expecting a few guesting for some meetings (as usual). I assist her whenever she is in our offices, so this was nothing out of the norm.
Though I had a really funny feeling so when each guest arrived I had re confiremed that they were meeting with her (by name) & they all replied " yes, I'm the 10am interview, 11am interview, etc." then I would reply " great, for which position?" & then I would hear the one thing no one ever wants to hear.. their own title. This went on all morning, again and again I had to hear enthusiastic people tell me that they were interviewing with my boss for my position. I dont know what to say or do

Answer:
How awful! Could it be that she's creating another position? It's odd that she would have you greet these people and find out that way. First, ask her in a professional and unemotional way why you are greeting so many people who are applying for a job that has the same title as yours. Try to sense whether she's being honest with you.

Then, just in case, update your resume and begin a job search--now. You don't have to go through with it if things turn out okay, but it will help you find a job sooner if they don't.

Good luck to you!
Work like crazy to find a new one. Register with temp agencies.

If you quit, you can't collect unemployment. Only quit if you have a new job line up.

If you are a wrongfully terminated file a complaint with the department of labor.
You need to talk with your boss. It's possible that she's adding a position with your title, so you might be okay. You need to recognize that you don't have all the facts yet. So, that's what your conversation with your boss needs to be about: gathering facts. When you have that conversation, make certain that you control your emotions, and that you simply focus on gathering facts. Certainly you can share that you are concerned, and find out what she has planned. Don't make any requests, challenges, or other statements until you feel that you've gathered all the facts and then taken some time to evaluate them.

Good luck.
Not sure how large your company is, but most large ones have employee dispute resolution processes set up. Find as much info about it as you can, then if she does terminate you, file a complaint right away disputing her reason(s) for terminating you.
OH. Nervous Nelly !! She is most likely moving you into a different position and filling yours. The way she is doing it is to put a check on your loyalty.

Worst case scenario.. She is humiliating you and wants you to quit and soon as possible. Always have a current resume ready and know that there is always another job out there.
We all understand your concern, but don't jump to conclusions.

Be positive and this maybe hard to do right now with you feeling like you are.

If you've been able to go to your boss in the pass, is there any reason you can't now?

In Corporate America people in this country should have learned, we don't control anything when it comes to job security.

You do your best and learn as much as you can, that's all you can do and hope that keeps you in the door another year.
