Is it bad to sign up for a temp job (6 month contract) when I won't be staying the full 6 months?
Answers:
No, you're doing the right thing instead of sitting doing nothing for that time and claiming benefits.
It's all common sense so that's good of you to think like that. A job's a job and anything is better than nothing while you wait to start your permanent one.
Good luck.
never mind. at least you found something to do in these 6 months. you got enough time to look for something else!
good luck!!
Not at all. Its a dog eat dog world out there and you gotta do what you gotta do.
If you actually sign a contract, you can't leave. They can sue you for it or force you to stay. Don't take the job if you aren't going to fulfill the contract. Hope this helps!
No, it is not a bad thing.
Most employers are notoriously bad in the employee relations field.
Anyway, the other job situation may take longer to sort out!
Depends .some jobs like working in a fish camp way out in Alaska will make you pay your own way home, I did that once and had to charter a plane to get out lol cost me 1000. But you won't get sued and no one can "make" you stay lol. They wont hire you again and it wont be a reference tho . most of those type jobs are camp type jobs far out of the way and it can be expensive to pay your way home.
Don't worry to much about it. It is only a temp job and just as long as you don't really need the reference then you may as well pull as many sickies as you can while you are there.
I think that employers also realise this that if it is a temp job they can't expect you to stay the full term and lose out on a permanent position.
Not any more. Nowadays any job can decide that while you might have planned to work there a long time, they'll let you go when it's convenient for them - with little or no warning to you.
The days of mutual loyalty are over.
NO - hence the title temp! If they dont want you they will not hesitate in getting rid - You owe them nothing - No doubt you are getting basic pay there, they will tell you its a basic position, when you start it will be totally different.
I know from great experience.
Do what is right for you.
