Hello, any ideas on what is considered a good salary to earn in Dubai??
Answer:
The salary/remuneration for a particular job is the market value for a particular profession and designation at the city/town where the office is located. Job postings at websites like Monster, Yahoo HotJobs and Careerbuilder carry information about salaries. The Govt Dept of Labor, (www.bls.gov) Bureau of statistics has information about median salaries for different professions and details of additional compensation offered. Other online resources are salary.com and payscale. Your salary will also depend on your educational qualification and how you handle your career. It all depends on whether the position incorporates accommodation. It is quite expensive there. A flat in Dubai is about 80,000 dirams a year if not more so calculating the exchange rate and the cost of accommodation that should tell you if your salary is good. It may sound good but make sure you've taken into account the cost of living. I was going to go but then the whole accommodation thing was a put off.
Mate of mine moved over contracted to start up a TV channel. Big money, free 4 bedroom house, free travel . He was earning £45000.00 here
If you want to work in Dubai, be prepared to do 6 and 7 day working weeks, and 10 hours is deemed as normal. They don't take kindly to holidays or sick days either.
Think long and hard about it. i know too many people that have come running back because they cannot handle the long working weeks. The only time they had, was when between leaving work about 7pm, and being at work for 8am. No weekends off !
depends a little on your qualifications , but i have a chum out there installing telephone equipment and he is earning £5000 a month , but he works six days a week. He says after two years he is packing it in , paying off his mortgage !
