Wait three days, call personnel to check the status of your application. Then a week later, try going in person. It will show you are serious, but don't stalk them. Apply other places, just to be sure you are giving yourself the best chances.
you don't tell them if you're going to be hired, they tell you
Walk in and tell them "I am really interested in working for you. I turned my application in last week, and wanted to check back."

Usually I tell my people to wait 2-3 days, then call the HR dept, and ask if they received the application/resume. If they say the did, then to ask if they reviewed the application/resume. If they say "Yes", then to ask them when they would like for you to come in for an interview. They'll let you know yes or no then.but no threatening them!
