Any advice for a budding freelance copywriter?

just wanting to know how others in the field got started, and any advice that they might have. You know, "I wish I had/ hadn't done." Thanks!

Answer:
You must read the following books:

The Well-Fed Writer

and

TWFW: Back for Seconds

Both books are written by Peter Bowerman. He knows what he's talking about, and all the advice you need is in there. You don't even have to buy them if you can't afford it--I imagine every library in the US has a copy. Start with The Well-Fed Writer.

If the library doesn't have it, then read Secrets of a Freelance Writer by Bob Bly. Or anything else by Bob Bly. Those two guys are the top freelance writing gurus. They will teach you how to actually make money from writing.
With a computer at home and internet connection, you can start earning from home, without any investment. You should choose your work at home job according to your skills and time available.
Many companies like Manuscript Services,Associated Content,Constant content pay for writing articles, poems,
proofreading and copywriting. A good writer can earn
more than US$30 per hour.
