Do firefighters get paid enough?

no they do a great job and put their lives on the line they should be on a hell of alot more,i salute them,their all heroes x
Not really they should be paid more they risk their life.
Definetly not! But, it seems like most people who risk their lives don't get paid enough.. military, police, firefighters, etc. Double their salary wouldn't even be enough!

I believe they do get paid enough.. If they didn't noone would do it! Instead we have alot of firefighters in the world.. Don't get me wrong. They are true heroes.. However I believe if it was too much of a low paying job we wouldn't have soo many great firemen out there. Also I think everyone that is a fireman at this point is passionate about there work and not just there for the money.

Yes. I'm sick to death of them moaning about their damned pay. It they don't like it they should get another job. Just like anyone else.
Oh, they can't, can they. Every fireman I know ended up there as they didn't have the skills to do anything else.
They all have second jobs, even though their contracts ban this, and they'll all get huge pensions and very early retirement.
They're absolutely loaded even though they only work a few days a week.

No they don't get paid enough.But then again none of the people who are hereos in my book do.Police and teachers for example.But the worst is our service men.Some are in poverty so we can live free and make $$$ Go figure.

Yes They get paid more than the military and when they went on strike who was it that covered for them. Shame we can't go on strike and send them to Afghan or Iraq instead.
not really they do an amazing service and i feel the risks they take as part of daily work should be recognised in some way the best would be to pay more.
I'm a volunteer firefighter. I do it becasue I enjoy helping out my community, along with being able to protect life and property. I have seen some bad things in the past 4 years but I wouldn't trade it for nothing.
This is a tough question.as the city fire department here gets lest than 25% of the calls that we do. They have better equipment, more people in their department, and their stations are staffed 24/7. On the other hand, us as volunteers don't get paid anything, the money that we use to operate the department comes from donations, and the occasional BBQ, Chicken Stew, or Picture Drive. Our newest engine is a 1978 American LaFrance; and we usually have on average 35 calls a month.
