Some Pharmacies are willing to train you. You will have to start out at the beginning (i.e. pharmacy cashier) but you will work your way up. Some companies will pay or reimburse you (if you work for them) for the national certification test which is almost a must have in this day and age. Go to www.ptcb.org to learn about the test. There is even a practice test you can take online.
I know CVS will train you and provides text books to get you up to taking the PTCB test. They provide a wealth of training even before you step into the pharmacy. You need to find a pharmacy that will be willing to train you. I would seek out the slower /less volume pharmacies at first. Some mom and pop pharmacies are good for just starting out also. ** luck!
You need education to be a pharmacy technician. If you make a mistake, you could kill somebody. Get your education and don't cut corners!
What, if any, training you need probably depends on what state you are in. The best way to find out is probably just to ask a pharmacist. Try your local pharmacies or hospitals and just keep asking until you get good answers. They will know the best places, which programs to avoid and where the good employers are.
