How do I become a loan officer with no experience?

I do not want to go to school. Also I am in the Philly area.

Answer:
It doesnt happen without any experience. You will have to work your way up from an entry level position.
Let me know when you find out.
sorry, these stuff need you to go to school so go to school.
You would not get a position like that without an education or experience.
Easy, make a boat load of money and then loan it to me.
If you want to become a loan officer, you should start by getting a teller job at a bank or credit union. I would personally start with a credit union because they typically pay more than banks do.

You may not want to be a teller, but you have to start somewhere. And without experience, it's probably your best bet.

Good luck!
LISTEN if you live in philly you do not have to go to school to be a LOAN OFFICER. depending what part of philly you live, NORTHEAST, SOUTH WEST. WHATEVER.
just look like a pro. speak like a pro, confidence., and for my sake and philly sake, DO NOT HAVE JUMAICAN RUM, BREATH, when you go to work. ha!ha!ha!
say hello to my philly neighbors!
You are correct about the school part. You don't need it for this particular job, however it could enable you to reach that goal much faster.
Without education in that field, this is a common career path.

I work for a bank. and typically, to be a Licensed Financial Specialist (a securities officer approved by the Securities Exchange Commission) one would take the 'Series 7' and/or 'Series 9' and/or 'Series 10' exam.

Typically, there are a few Financial Certification Exams. If you pass one of them, you're sure to become a loan officer by way of training from your financial institution.

None require tuition from a tradition school education.
Dear Jen:

Good Luck! Are you familiar with mortgages at all? If you know how they work and have a basic idea of the types of programs there are, then you're off to a great start. While you don't need schooling to become a loan officer, please realize that there are hundreds of programs out there. I am constantly reading up on programs and underwriting guidelines. You also need to have good communication skills so that you can explain how these programs work to your customers. And there are also federal and state guidelines to follow. Since you're in the Philly area, you might also be interested in knowing that there may be some legislature under review requiring loan officers to become state registered. There is already a mortgage solicitor registration requirement in NJ. Hope this helps!
