Where to mention about salaries in resume?
Answer:
Put it next to the job in your job history. This will also show (hopefully) a progression of pay increases.
Put your salary history as a seperate attachment. This way you only have one resume. If you put your salary on your resume then everyone gets to see it and it may leave you with problems negotiating or eliminate you from a potential before you even get started.
Shame on these employers!
I would be uncomfortable documenting salary in the application process at all, as it cannot possibly lead to a candidate's advantage--or even a neutral position--until late in the interviewing process. It can be used against you; they could see your salary and decide you will cost too much and move on to the other candidates. And you will not have a chance to show them why you earned that salary.
If you decide that you must include it, I agree with the previous poster who advised that you document it on an attachment.
For what it is worth, let me ramble for a second. Discussing a position with a prospective employer is sales. Most employers will go along with you if you discuss the position and your qualifications first. Then, if there is a potential match, salary negotiations are in order.
What if you went to the car lot and the salesperson ran up to you pointing to a car and said, "It's $20,000! Are you interested? Well, you should be!" It makes more sense for the salesperson to ask you what you are looking for, and then lead you to that beautiful car in the front row, "You are looking for something with comfortable leather, huh? These seats are the most comfortable you have ever tried. Go ahead, try it out! How's that steering wheel feel in your hands? Is this what you had in mind?"
If questions regarding a price range are necessary, it should come from you. "My salary? Uh, let me ask you this: Do you have a desired salary range for this position?" Then you can respond with, "Yes, I think we are on the same page." And move on. Quickly! ;-)
My advice: Follow the sales professionals, and don't chase away prospects with price.
