What the best way for a college student who's never worked before to get a part-time job?

I'm a sophomore student at Baylor University. I've never worked before. Where should I apply to get a part-time job? What's the best way to get hired? What types of businesses should I be trying for? What pay should I expect to get hourly? Any interview tips? What should I wear to these interviews?

Answer:
You can try for call center executive job.
go to a fulltime carwash you will get hired on the spot. people come and go at places like that and they will need you there trust me.
Why ask us? Ask your College's career office to help you out, they should and can give you the answers to all those questions plus find you job.
try McD's, Burger KIng, Wendy's and work your way up. can you say minium wage dude
Temp services they canhelp find some thing you are interested in and it can be lots of fun to try different jobs through these places.
Try restaurants and other fast food places. They will hire almost anyone. Just have a good record. Minimum wage or a little more. Probably about $6 an hour. Be confident. Always show up on time. Wear something nice. Polo and slacks. Anything thats not raggedy or worn out looking.
Apply anywhere you want. Good hygiene. Dress professional.clean clothes, slacks and a good polo work. Find out what your local min. wage is and don't be afraid to ask for a little more. At an interview, be at least 10-15 min early, have good eye contact, a good hand shake (have some teachers give you a handshake test to see if they have any tips or if you've got a good one). And don't worry.
Monster.com has some good tips too.
Do you have access to businesses off campus? You can try and get a job on campus. Check if your college has a career center. Your very first job may not be glamorous (e.g. food service/industry), but we all had to start somewhere. Wear a nice blouse and slacks with heels, or a suit if you have one. Be professional, even if it is a food service job.
Internships; and your school should be able to help you. But remember you are a student and many of my friends during the summer earn between 8 and 10 dollars. depends your job.
Well it is good to know that life is finally catching up with you. A Sophomore in College, and getting his first job. Well first of all, because of your work experience, you will have start out at around the minimum wage. That is not to bad, as you need to be trained to do any of the jobs you choose to do.

What is your major in college? What is it you like to do? The key to working is to first ,get a job. Work hard and gain experience as you work there. Keep a resume or your jobs and your bosses names and numbers. You will need them for your future.

You can start out at fast food places, car washes, theaters, and other places that hire fast turn around workers such as college men and women like yourself.

You need to dress in slacks and nice sport shirts and leather shoes. You see once someone hires you, they have to spend money and time to train you. No matter what the job is. You need to learn their way of doing business. So your first job don't expect to make much money.

You might want to go to your library at school., you know that place where there are many books on the shelves, and you can check them out for free, usually and read them, and look up jpoints on how to get a job, interviews and points on what to say and what not to say.

One other thing is sometimes enterprising young people realize that they are going to college for some type of degree. Maybe you can check into getting a job in a related field of your studies. You can also look into working at a job you like to do in your spare time. Like computers, riding motorcyles, running, sleeping, or drinking. If you find a job you like to do it makes it more fun to be there.

Well good luck.

Monster , Yahoo Hotjobs, Careerbuilder are some of the largest job boards, where you can apply for jobs and upload your resume. Since Craigslist, allows free job postings, many smaller companies post their vacancies on this online classifieds website. You can also search for jobs from multiple websites using aggregators like SimplyHired and Indeed. Referrals are also becoming a increasingly popular way to get hired.
