How do I become a successful sales manager?
Answer:
There are some great books out there.
Also, there are some free (not copyrighted) books avail. on torrentspy or mininova about just this subject.
I can email you some stuff if you like.
I do consultancy on similar subjects.
Let me know.
be honest and treat your people well.
Not by outselling the others, by actually managing your "territory" so that if you moved to Timbukthree tomorrow, your replacement would know what to do for whom.
As a leader, people skills are the most important, just below technical skills.
Good luck.
Can I be truthful with you. To be successful you need to do what others won't do. That means, do what others won't do today, to have what others can't have tomorrow. People are where they are today because of their habits. 100% people want success, but 95% never succeed and the 5% rule the 95%. Why? Because the 95% are in their comfort zone and the 5% got out of their comfort zone to achieve their goals and dreams. Those who live in their comfort zone and think all is ok, will end up struggling years later. So you want to be a team leader.
Many workers don't read enough books, go to enough seminars, read enough about goal settings, about leadership. They don't read full stop but novels, newspapers but you need to read that which will help you grow inside. So read more on self development, goal setting, people's skills, serving and inspiring others.
Also, ask where you work to have a mentor, that has been in your position so they can sit with you once a week, set goals together, and help you to guide you. A mentor is valuable because they've been where you are, know what challenges you will face and can help you achieve or get to where you want to be.
Be an asset than a burden to the bank you work for. Excel by realising what you want out of life i.e. your dream. Write it down clearly, i.e. what is you want to achieve - goal setting.
Now, since you know by writing it down, put what will you do to getto where you want to be, but do so ethically, not hurting anyone. So set the PRICE YOU WILL PAY. And be very serious. Sit down with yourself or mentor and make this a great adventure.
When you set goals, understand nothing is impossible. When you set goals, then your subconscious mind takes you seriously. It is now on paper, concrete and not just flying in their head.
It's called the Slight edge. And when you set goals then you'll get some friction from life. Always when you set goals life brings challenges to make you stronger but if you're dream is clear, strong enough, if your reasons are big enough than excuses and burns you inside, you are inspired.then nothing will stop you. No matter what. That's what 95% don't do. They will make everything as an excuse instead of a REASON!
Now, you need a plan. Not a plan to get to where you want to be, but plan to start from one stage to the next, and keep moving from one stage of your goal to the next. The plan will change but not your goals, so don't get frustrated. The plan will change due tpo circumstances but it is for you to also sit down and foresee these circumstances too.
There is much I can say as I mentor a lot of entrepreneurs but I hope this can help you.
1. Know what you want to achieve. Your dream.
2. Set goals.
3. Name the Price you'll pay.
4. Now write the plan.
5. Read this everyday, so all these 4 need to be on A4. And your mind understands images, so get photos from magazines of your each goal and put them where you can see them.
Your subconscious mind is powerful, and you may need to change some habits; like watching TV to do more reading and associating with successful people.
I can give more but what I can do is leave titles of books, which has helped me to develope a global business organisation around the world.
Please, read as many books you can mate, they will help you and make your life even more exciting. You'll love these books as they'll give you hope and knowledge on how to go about life, being successful in all fields.
Hope the info is helpful and go for it! Looks like you got goals to be a sales leader and why not. You can do it but do one thing:
1. Inspire your team. Never talk negative to them.
2. If someone does wrong, don't shout at them in front of people. Take them aside in an office without anyone thinking you're going to tell them off and be genuine, speak to them with maturity and ask, "how can you help them to grow," and say why its important for the team. TEAM = Together We Achieve More.
3. Edify - put a system where when someone does something then praise their actions. Praise them while they do the action. And also do it in front of the whole team. Give credit to the team not you and they'll see you are part of them instead of seeing you as just a sales team leader.
4. Give time to counsel each one. Help them to set goals and help them to achieve their goals too. See what is it they want from the job and plan together.
5. Your success depends on you setting the pace, the example, so work harder than them but also know, that together as a Team, you achieve more.
Read The Slight Edge First. Amazing book there for you! Hope the info I left helps.
