my son is working with newspaper sales crew and the guy he's working for is robbing them. He charges the kids $30.00 for not getting any orders and also charges them if they act up. So by the time they get their check(pay) he's deducted all these fee and the kids end up with on pay. Where should I go from here?
Answer:
Sounds perfectly legal to me. He is running a performance based operation. If there is performance the kids get paid. If there is no performance then the kids don't get paid. The real problem is paying the kids. If he were paying them he would be in violation of under age child working laws and there is a lot of bad press about sweat shops lately.
The other issue is your kid. Why would he act up? This may become a problem in the future.
