If you were fired from three jobs you need to look within yourself to figure out what the problem is. For the most part, we control our own destiny and make our own luck. Make a list of the things you are doing that you think might be causing what is happening and see what you can do to change them.

Want the dream? You're going to have to work hard for it.
You need to take a good hard look at yourself and see why/how you are sabotaging yourself.
As for friends with less credibility who are doing better now, perhaps they worked harder because they had less credibility and then passed you up.
I once took piano lessons along with my childhood friend and in the beginning I was much better than him, but he practiced and I didn't and he is now a concert pianist and I can barely remember chopsticks.
Its all in the effort, my friend, all in the effort.
