Which is better: Monster or HotJobs?
Answers:
Post your resume both places. They are used by different employers. CareerBuilder is another very large site.
NOTE: If you are employed, BE CAREFUL that your employer doesn't discover you are job hunting (by finding your resume online) and fire you:
* Take your name and contact information off the resume you post.
* Use only an unlisted phone number (like your cell phone)
* Use a non-work e-mail address
* Mask the name of your employer so that, for example, "Smith Widget Company of Cleveland" becomes "Ohio gadget manufacturing company." That way if they search on their company name, they won't find you.
I interview people about how they landed their latest job, and for the last 12 months, the site mentioned most often in Craigslist.org. It's kind of a unique site - online classified ads, by location (city or state). People just looked through the jobs posted on Craigslist.org.
No one in the last 15 months has mentionedMonster, HotJobs, or CareerBuilder as the source of a job. Only Craigslist!
For help using Craigslist successfully and safely, see this guide to using Craigslist to find a job - http://www.job-hunt.org/onlinejobsearchg...
Another great site to search through is Indeed.com - http://www.indeed.com
Indeed is a "job aggregator" which collects jobs off big job sites (like Monster, HotJobs, and CareerBuilder, but NOT Craigslist) as well as many other smaller sites and even employer Websites. So, it's a great place to do one search that covers more Websites and employers than you would think of yourself.
Good luck!
I prefer HotJobs. Monster spams me to death.
try both.if you don't like one try another
I like Hotjobs but I use carreerbuilder.com. You can also use sites like USAjobs.com. That site gives you the federal job listings. I have noticed that most of monsters jobs are outdated.
Careerbuilder.com is also a great site.
Monster.com is awesome. I've posted there for a long time...and I love their one-click "renew" feature to help keep your Resume at the top of the stack. While many job boards, including Yahoo, Careerbuilder, etc.technically require you to act as if you are editing your Resume, then you have to save it again to keep it updated for each day.
Monster.com
Careerbuilder.com is okay and still a lot simpler than Yahoo to keep updated.
America's job bank is interesting, too. http://www.ajb.org
