Macy's need many workers, but why the managers like to cut their coworkers' hours?

Answers:
In Retail, Payroll is budgeted according to Sales. If Sales are down, there is no money to substantiate the payroll. If sales are
above budget goals, there are more hours for payroll.
Several reasons. Less hours per employee equals less benefits. It also means that the retailer can get away with a lower rate of pay. The tradtional retailer is rapidly finding it difficult to stay competitive with the advantages of web-based shopping so they have to cut corners somewhere to still show a profit. People costs are the highest expense to any company so it stands to reason, that is where you are going to see the cuts. More work (less people) for the same or less pay.

That is why I became involved in a Plan B opportunity - something I could build on a delayed gratification principle with team support capitalizing on the internet trends - doing what I was doing anyway - only doing it smarter.
