What can I do about this breach of a confidentiality agreement?

I became aware today that before an inverview my presnet employer was contacted. On the online and written application I made ot a pont to check the boxes to where they should not be contacted. What can I do in this situation, even though there has been no negative consequenses as of yet?

Thanks!!

I don't think it is actually a breach, like something you could sue for if you lost your present job
Think Positive. You just told your employer you are ambitious and capable of much more.

Good luck.
You can't do much except ask them why they called your current employer without your permission and may have jeopardized your current job. This is not right and they need to know this.

If you really really want this new job, you may choose to over look it. It doesn't matter what box you checked on your application, it's not enforceable unless you loose your job because of it. Then you have a legal case. If you don't get this job, lay into them.

Companies do "blind references" all the time but, you would never find out about that. If you found out, then they are really sloppy.

Good luck!
Not a lot, truthfully. You assumed the risk by searching for new jobs.
