DILEMMA: I have an internship...?

where it pays great but requires me to complete projects outside the store. this is a major problem because I don't have a car and use public transportation, and cannot rely on a ride from my friend..I really need the job, should I try to work it out and just call a cab service on those days (would cost a lot depending on distance) For these projects I have to be at other stores/places at certain times and return back to work at certain times (or reasonable time limit) WHAT SHOULD I DO??!!

Good planning can also help - thinking about public transportation - talk to your intern supervisor - and plan a schedule of when you have to be outside the store, where and how you can get there the most cost efficient way - this will also give you valuable problem solving skills you can use as an example in future interviews - also see what technology would assist you - if you do not have to physically be in a place - but need to provide input - a conference call, on-line chat or email with a summary report might be more useful - than a meeting - again what are the objectives of the internship from both your supervisor/organization's perspective and your needs and limitations - you will find with good communication to everyone involved that problems can be solved and that you will gain more than just the money but communication skills, critical thin kin and problem solving skills that reflect well on both you and the internship - if you try
Be honest. Tell your mentor/boss what the problem is. Perhaps you can work something out.
Strange this is an internship and they require you to have your own transportation and they do not offer any type of car service or at minimum traveling stipend. By taking car services you would be working for nothing in the end. Are you sure there isn't any other job available to you? This does not sound like the typical internship job and the company is totally taking advantage of the persons youth and nievity.
Internships are non paid positions - thus, you don't have an internship.

If the job requires transportation - ask to be reimbursed for your expenses. Most states have laws that require compensation for personal travel between job sites.
1st off be honost about your problem to your employer. Most employers/managers can and will make reasonable accomodations depending on the circumstances.

2nd, explain to your employer that as soon as you can afford to you plan to and will purchase dependable transportation.

3rd, in this day and age you really need to get a vehicle and can always get something cheap at a buy-here-pay-here lot.

Good luck with the internship and job. Hope this helps out.
