Need help in deciding career path in computers?

i am a graduate of computer science but my friends tell me that everyone might get a job as a programmer.. the other sub-fields they say are testing, documentation, database admin etc.. what are the pros and cons.. need help before i step in.. people who have experience in any of these roles may shed some light on this please.

Answers:
First - decide whether you are good at programming or not? And more importantly, whether you enjoy doing it?

If Yes, decide what language you would like to opt for(Java, .Net, C++ etc..)..

if No, then go ahead with Tester's role. But for that you need to have an eye for detail. You might like it more, coz I have seen guys flourish more as testers than programmers.

Plz dont go in for documentation..Its really time-consuming and Boring..

The key is whether you want to be the one making mistakes and fixing them; or the one cathing them and getting em fixed.. ;-)

All the best!
Congratulations on graduation. Well, it depends on what you want to do actually. Which line are you comfortable with. I'm a programmer, and we used to average 12 hours a day, sometimes more just to get a module done. Most companies do not need that many dba's and network engineers. But they usually look for programmers, system analyst and technical support a lot. It boils down to what you want to do actually. What you like.Good luck!
