Shall I tell my boss at my primary job about another job I have?
Answer:
No, not a good idea. Your boss is not likely to 'understand' the situation - in fact, it can cause your trouble if your boss feels that your second job is taking any of your attention away from the job they pay you for.
No way.
Not unless he asks.
He might wonder why you don't have as much energy as before. Then you can just casually say " Oh , I started a second job.gotta support the family."
Maybe he'll give you a raise ;)
In a professional world its genereally not a problem, so long as there is no conflict of interest with both jobs. Alot of people work more than one job these days. It depends on the relationship you have with your boss. Talk with someone in Human Resources and find out if there are written policies about this that are in place. This will give you facts instead of pure speculation. If there are no policies thtough human resources, and you've never sign any contract paperwork that says you can't have another job, you should be fine. - Good Luck
The first question you need to answer for your self is whether or not either employer has a rule about outside employment. If you have any type of employment contract it would be in there. the next issue is the "second" effecting you performance at the first (stable) one. I the answer to those two is no than it is non of their business.
I believe that being honest up front will save you a lot of trouble later with your boss. I own a small business and if I found out about a similar situation on my own I would be upset. But, if the part time gig was not related to your real job and you told me up front, I would be cool with it.
