My colleague at work just won't shut up. What should I do?
Answer:
He is obviously a very insecure guy and feels the need to be accepted all the time.
I would recommend you pull him aside and just be straight with him, he is a distraction and that's one thing nobody needs when your busy and trying to get your job done.
Be honest but sincere and let him know that you can't answer or talk to him all the time when he needs to know something or is just babbling about nothing. Tell him you haven't got time for useless conversation about nothing. It is a work place and not a social outing or club your in, your a professional , deal with it like one!
staple or sellotape his mouth shut.. that should do the trick
Kick him in the nuts and tell him to F**k off!!
That normally works :)
Clear duct tape my friend. It will shut him up and others won't be able to see it. Tape his mouth in a smile if you like. Everyone will think he loves his job.
tell him that his breath smells hopefully he will shut his mouth for you!!
your jus gonna have to tell him to ** off, kinda politly but in a way he knows your pissed off. that way he'll think before he pecks your head again. if not send me round n ill gladly give the geeza a back hander
let me know how it goes ok
tell him you'll be with him as soon as you finish what you're doing- you just need to concentrate to get it done first. Then just forget to mention it..
I have a girl just the same at my office!! Even when i'm on the phone to a customer she keeps talking! I've tried ignoring her , disagreeing with her but nothing works. . . . . . . .I think i'm now becoming immune to her incessant drabble. Good luck my friend
Pull him aside quietly and try to reason with him.
If after this, there is NO marked improvement, then take the matter to your manager.
I know all about this.'cause I work with a woman who talks (cloyingly) all day long!
Sometimes I want to hit her in the mouth with a shovel.BUT.I'm afraid it would bring on more unwanted conversation!
We all welcome the days when she's out of the office for vacation!
BUT.back to your situation.you might have to be rude to bring an end to the problem!
Don't close yourself off from this option!
You need to just flat out tell him that you can't talk all day, you have things to get done. He is being rude by doing this so just do it right back and be rude! If that doesn't work then go to a supervisor, thats what they are there for.
Headphones.
just tell him 2 shut the ** up, he will get the hint then!!
tell him to communicate with you over email ONLY
Have you tried Murder? that always works! he'll never speak to you again!
try to act more busy than you actually are, to the point where you can not pay attention to him.since you don't want to be rude just be like"I am sorry but I'm really busy" and walk away for a minute.
I read on the net the other day that boring people are actually bad for your health! They reckon listening to mind numbingly boring conversation, causes the same distress as having to put with over dramatic b@stards who cause mental fatigue.
Transfer your work station now, before you end up having a nervous breakdown, stapling his lips shut and ramming the coffee filter machine up his asss!!
Could you let your manager know that it's disturbing you and maybe he/she could send an email to the whole department about constant noise and that way he might not take it personally.
put his tie in the shredder should keep him busy for a while and he will then think ur a nutter and not want to talk 2 u
Killl Him !! MUWHUAHUAHAUHAUHA
I used a squirt gun to keep people like him away. And, ask management to establish some clearer guidelines about quality of work time issues, such as, initiating a system in which workers wear Velcro-arm bands when they are NOT to be talked to or disturbed as they work among others. That works.
Play the guilty card. Tell him that the boss has had a quiet word with you and that he accused you of not doing your job as you are yapping all day. Tell him the boss really frightened you and you just want to keep a low profile for now. Make sure you hint to him that you never said to the boss that he talks more than you do and that the boss noticed only you talking. Make him feel that because of his constant gobbing you got into trouble with the boss. He will then be desperate to put things right and will leave you alone as he doesn't want you to loose your job.
Borrow a tape recorder and tape a couple of hours of conversation, then next day when he starts just play the tape back -- LOUD. Best of luck
I think the best thing to do is to ignore him and pretend that you are not hearing him or you are really busy with your work. Incase he happens to come to you and shake u up tell him your really busy, u might have to be rude with such ppl.
I have one of those at work too. Annoying isn't it? I have mastered the art of selective hearing and one word answers.
