Is it illegal for your employer to require that you take their health insurance?

Answer:
Generally, you need health insurance. If you already have it then all you need to do is prove this to your employer. Bring a copy of current insurance card and coverage information to the hr dept. health insurance is a benefit that comes with most jobs. don't turn it down unless you have comparable insurance. anything can happen.
I'm not sure illegal is the right term, it seems very unbusinesslike. Health Benefits are considered part of your hiring package and it very well may be they are going to garnish your wages towards a health premium.
It's crazy if you think about it, because if you do not want to sign up for their health insurance program, you're actually going to cost them less money as an employee.
Contact their Human Resources department first and find out about this. Do not turn down the health insurance if you don't already have coverage somewhere else. If you indicated you are not enrolled in another health coverage plan, it's possible they won't hire you. From on-the-job accidents to strep throat, you need a health plan to help you pay medical bills.
