Go to social security office, they are not everywhere but are usually located in a county seat city. Bring a picture ID and anything else you can, it will take about 30-60 minutes to wait and do paperwork depending on how big of city you are in, 100,000 or more expect a 2 hour wait?. They will give you a temporary card in form of reciept that all employers have to accept, and real one should be mailed to you within 2-3 weeks.
Go to your local social security office.
Visit a Social Security office with ID.
call the social security office first to find out what all ID you will need, then go up there.
You don't loose a social security number! It stays with you the rest of your life! If you lost your card, or can't remember your number contact your local social security number, or look in some or your records. I am it's on your lease or mortgage, your bank has it, your doctor's records probably have it, it's on your tax returns, etc., etc.!
