Pro for Internal: An employee already knows the persons work habits and is willing to vouch for the person.
Con for Internal: Could lead to family members (more than one) working for you.

Pro for External: The person is showing you what they CAN and WILL do for the company.
Con for External: You really don't know if you've hired the right person.
