My mate has been suspended from work and needs some advice?
Answer:
A couple of years ago, a similar problem happened at a major superstore,
the lady took it to court, she won, and received a substantial sum. This
lady fronted the camera's, she said that it took a toll on her health, family
being affected, lost her job anyway, and missed her working colleagues, all
for sake of £2.50, which at the time she apologized, offered to pay it back.
Wait and see what happens, if they are being unreasonable, then take
the matter further with professionals, I'm surprised her union hasn't
stepped in to help her out.
Good luck.

Lain.
At my husband's job, whenever they suspend an employee, it's basically just to allow them time to prepare the paperwork and when the employee comes back they let them go.
If she already apologized and offered to pay it back, I don't think there's anything else she can say, she'll just have to wait until she hears from them and hope they understand her side of it.
Don't just end everything without hearing her side. We all have our right to defend ourselves. If she has a good intention of doing such action, I know the company would understand. But there are company policies that should be followed. If her offense is on the list, well then she couldn't do anything about it but to be prepared. If not, she should be in a hurry in doing some moves!
