After 30 years in the military how do you pass a job interview?

Answer:
That's not a problem - just remember not to use "sir" and "ma'am", it throws us civilians off - also, when you sit during the interview, lean forward a little bit, maintain eye contact but look away after a few seconds, shoulders down, think "at ease" - those were the things that used to throw me off when I interviewed ex-military.

The military is just like the civilian world, just more hierarchcal, so show how it's similar, focus on what the military is good at, solving problems, loyalty to rank, doing things right, watching the back of your team - all of those are wonderful job skills that translate into the civvie world.
Your military experience is really good experience because you know how to dress sharp and be polite etc. Just be yourself and be honest and I predict success some day soon. (I am in Human Resources)
shoot the interviewee lol joking just be urself
Interviews are just false somebody usually has inside information and a friend of a friend gets most jobs - its all a game - interviews are not passable - unless you know someone most of the time - its true!
are you kidding just telling employers you were in the military will get you a job. i work for the post office and they have hired about 5 people who were in the military in the last year.
Just Like You had recently Graduated From School.
Emphasise ability to follow instruction, combined with knowing when personal initiative would be useful.
Be yourself relax and polite ,answer the questions with confidence and determination , do not fidget or stare ,look away at times between questions. And above all present yourself looking smart and alert
Good luck and God bless my father left the military after 25 years and he had a complete nightmare to start with - he's now very happy and settled.
Make sure you continue to go back to college/university even if it's only evening classes or part time to keep learning and gathering new skills and education, it will always help. People seem to want paper qualifications even though you may be perfectly good at the job advertised! Don't know why.. I personally think it's daft. But don't give up - EVER - you have served your country well and have a lifetime or irreplaceable experience and work knowledge, beyond what some people will ever see or experience and someone somewhere will see that and appreciate it. You must be great at time keeping etc
Oh and last bit of advice get a professional CV writer (the best that you can afford) to write your CV for you with your help and input, you'll be amazed at what they can do :o) and don't forget to ask for help with a rough template covering letter for your applications.
Good Luck x
Oh and smile alot everybody seems to like it and be friendly and approachable.
