Is this a good idea?

I'm wanting to become a firefighter. Would it be a good idea to find a job in a fire department while working towards a fire science degree?

Answers:
Yep, I would think that even if you could get into a volunteer Fire Dept. it would definatly help. Any training is going to help! I am a firm believer that you can never have too much training! I don't know what your long term goals are, but I believe that if you had some years in the field plus your degree you should have an easier time getting into a full-time dept. Good Luck!
Sure. You don't really need a fire science degree but it will give you an advantage. My friend became a firefighter and I think her degree was in general business.
sounds like a great idea to me. It's not always what you know but who you know.
brilliant
Absolutely. Then you'd have experience once you graduated from school and it would be easier to get a job. I wish you luck. Great career choice!
Great Idea!! It seems as you have set a goal. Now go for it.
