How to ask the Boss?
Answer:
tell him how you feel and ask him what needs of his are not being met by you and your work.
as in 'i was surprised to find my bonus half of the usual'
and
then i got a little angry when i realized others got the usual
then i wondered what was going on.
is there some problem i need to know about?
don't forget to shut up and listen carefully to what your boss says.
Tell him you would like to polish your skills and get rid of all the flaws you may have at work so you want to know what you did wrong. He will ask why you're asking and then you'll be having the heartiest entretien of your life. It will turn out it's not your fault, the accountants just got everything wrong again :)
ask him politely
Bring proof.
Just ask for a meeting with him, then tactfully and respectfully ask your question. If you are too timid for this approach, send him a brief email. But direct is usually best.
ask it you can speak with him/her privately, then ask if it was an oversight or if it was meant to be only half. If it was meant to be only half ask the reasons why. could have been something in your performance review, but that should have been gone over with you and signed off by you.
