Does an Administrative Assistant have growth/career opportunity?

Dumb question, I know. I would like to hear from people who started there and moved up. Thanks.

PLEASE NO ANSWERS ABOUT HOME BASED/INTERNET BUSINESSES! NOT interested.

Answer:
Definitely! You're the first person to see job postings usually so you know what to apply for ;) I started out at a temp agency as an administrative assistant (in the temp agency office) and since they knew I was a hard worker with good computer skills, they got me a high paying permanent job as soon as it reached the office.
Absolutely! In two different places I began as Admin Assistant - 1st in a Radio Station. As the support for the sales team, I learned a lot about their jobs, what made the successful ones good, and the poor ones notsomuch. So as soon as I felt ready, I applied for an open sales position. At first, my boss did not want to let me go, but realized I was ready for growth. I did really well, and made a lot of money!! But sales was not for me. So I went back as an admin assistant for a Career Counselling/Vocational Rehabilitation company, and within a few weeks was promoted to Office Manager. Now, I am a Job Search Coach, and taking classes to become certified!

Admin Assistants are the the heartbeat of an office - listen, learn and then leap. if you were good as an assistant - you'll be great at your next step!
