What is it like to work for the government?

I have always worked in the private sector but am trying to put aside preconceived notions and stereotypes, and am just looking for some insights from those who have experienced it.

Pros/cons.etc..

Answer:
It might depend on what area of "government" you are talking about. I was a Judicial Assistant in the Court system for many years. I loved it. Also, I had about 15 years of being a Legal Assistant prior to the Court experience. I would imagine that most branches of government would require some experience. The benefits are usually good.
Yuo could get low pay !
It depends entirely what job in "the government" you do. There is everything in the private sector that is also in the government. There are also some very unusual jobs. You could visit exotic, distant lands; meet exciting, interesting people, and kill them.

Not everyone gets to guard the President, but, for those that do, it is a neat job.
