Job hunting on the net or in person better to find a job?
Answers:
Its not either/or. Using every avenue you have to find a job is your best bet. You must "sell" yourself in the current market. For every job there are 100 people qualified for it. You have to make yourself known in whatever way you can think of.
I suggest you make up some business card note pads. Purchase ready made note pads with a flap to glue your business card to, and then print out your own business card on business card stock. Send one of these pads to every job you apply for, including snail mail to internet jobs. When you follow up, they are more likely to remember you.
Honestly, it depends on the industry. Majority of companies now post positions online just so they don't have hundreds of candidates walking through their doors. This makes it hard to make yourself stand out unless you have an excellent resume.
No matter how much online hunting you do, every no and then its good to make old fashioned contact. Send a hard copy of your resume to the HR Dept or Hiring Manager. Take a little initiative and follow up with your resume with a brief visit, or phone call. Anything to help you stand out.
Internet posting will lead you in the right direction and sometimes get you the position. But depending on how hungry you are, make yourself known to the job poster.
the internet is so easy to post your abilities, and it's so easy to turn you down. go to that place you want to work, and look um in the eye,and it's harder for them to turn you down, especially if you truely want to work... look um in the eye.and ask them sincerely. and a little prayer as you are going in won't hurt...
in person
