How to be a Wedding Planner?
Answer:
you can check out the community college in your town to see if they offer it, my sister wanted that too, and she went to miami dade college and they have a community education, and they offered, it, also you can go to college and major in business, to you can know how to start you own wedding planner business
I have also wanted to become a wedding planner/coordinator. I have found that most major colleges/universities don't offer it. Corespondence Courses, done by mail or over the internet seem to be the only way I have found. Check www.pcdi.com they may have a course in it.
Look up Wedding Planning on the Internet. In college, you could major in Public Relations/Marketing. You can do internships with companies that do wedding planning and get experience. You should read as much as possible about the wedding industry. Read bridal magazines, too. Look at Sandals.com. They have wedding planning software put out by Frogwaresoftware.com called Wedding Magic. There is a version for Professionals, too. You should look at other wedding planning software, too. You have to have great negotiating skills and people skills. You will need patience and the ability to stay calm. It is very stressful dealing with crazed brides and their mothers. You will have to be very organized, as you will be responsible for many things at once. Wedding, and special event planners are constantly multi-tasking. You should contact planners in your area and arrange informational interviews. Remember, many planners have "attitudes" and are difficult to deal with. (Ego issues). It would be good to study mediation and negotiation in preparation for the job. Good planners are able to keep their own egos out of the frey and keep everyone else calm and organized. Good luck, dear. Good planners are a Godsend!
