Legal action taken if employer cancels the job offer?

What is the legal action taken on the employer if he cancels the job offer as we resign the present job after getting the offer ?

Answers:
If you have a signed letter/offer from the company then you may be able to pursue something through the courts. Depends on the reason why they withdrew the job offer. Was the offer pending a background check, drug test? If there was information on your job application or resume that was not truthful they have the right to withdraw the offer. (Stating you have a college degree but you don't. State that you worked for a company for 6 months and it was only 2 months.)

E-mail me directly with more details if you want and I'll try to help you out. Why did they withdraw the offer? Was it a verbal offer of employment pending something?
Contact an Attorney or The Work Labor Board.
The allegation on the 'would have been employer' will be: Defrauded me out of my present job by giving me a fraudulent and non-sustaining job offer.

Watch out for the disclaimer though! If the written job offer has a disclaimer that says that:
"You leave your present job at your own risk. This offer may be withdrawn, cancelled, nullified, or made obsolete with or without notice to you the applicant/future employee/employee, and our company will not be responsible for your losses in the execution of such withdrawals, cancellations, nullifications, or dissolutions of the said offer of employmnt",
then you are in deep trouble without much hope for restitution.
The other part of the equation is whether you ACCEPTED the offer, in writing, within the time period specified on the job offer or not. If you did not accept the offer, the deal is not considered complete yet, hence it is NOT binding on either party.
Good luck!
you will need to talk to a employment lawyer to see if you had detrimental reliance on the offer, not enough facts provided to give you an honest answer

as stated above: the initial offer, what is in writing, what was verbal will have much to say on your case

good luck
