Marks are not high enough to get into college. what other good paying career paths are available?

My sons marks are not high enough to go to college. What other career paths can he take that would provide a good standard of living for him? He is actually very intelligent, Just wasnt consistent with his homework and academic efforts.

Answers:
A community or 2 year junior college will take him. Have him do that and work hard. Then when he gets good grades a 4 year college will take him to finish his degree. Without a college education these days he can plan on living on the poverty line. That's just the way it is. Good luck.
Vocational-Technical school would work if he is interested in welding, building trades, air conditioning, heating, painting, brick laying, etc. and auto mechanics, etc. Good luck.
There are a lot of colleges that are accepting people with low or even "bad" marks from high school. As long as he can do well on the SATs and do some extra curricular activities to make himself look better, he has a shot at many colleges. Don't give hope yet. He just has to really apply himself because a high school education gets you very little pay these days. Trade school would be the next best thing but even then you can make around $40 to $60 thousand a year if that. Tell him to grow up and shape up! Get into college or else he is going to have a hard life. I just graduated from college and it was the best decision I ever made. He needs to realize that. But basically, do well on the SAT's and do some extra curriculars and he should be fine. It may set him back a while to do these things, but a semester behind is worth it vs not going at all. Good luck!
Vocational training or go to truck-driving school. Truck drivers make very good money
