Two questions in regards to interviews?!?

Have you ever been in an interview, and been asked a question you couldn't think of an answer to? Then proceeded to say one or two words that sound completely foolish? What was the question and what did you say?

Answer:
Yes, I applied for a job at a nursing home to work in the restaurant as a waiter. I was homeschooling and had to be with my mom all day and desperately needed a job. I didn't really want this job but thought I might as well give it a shot. On the interview the guy asked me why I wanted to work in the service industry. Well, I don't want to work in the service industry!! I'm 17 years old and just want a job! I had a brain fart and just said, "I don't know." (mumbling to myself) Obviously I didn't get the job.

What was I supposed to say, "Oh boy! I just love serving people food. It's been my dream all my life to serve old people food at a nursing home!"

Give me a brake, what a dumb question for such a insignificant low paying job!
yes,

i waz given a option - interviewer asked me - whether i wanted to answer 10 simple questions or one real difficult question ?

i said - one difficult question

he asked: wat comes first- day or night ?

i said- Day

he asked how ?

i said- sir, u promised to ask me only one question

i was selected

wat say ?
the main thing you must remember about interviews is that the employer wants to know how you view yourself as a worker. if they ask "tell me about yourself" they DONT want to know if you play football or love camping or how many kids you want, what they DO want to know is something like.."I am honest, ...I like working hard and keeping busy,... I sometimes keep so busy I lose track of time and forget to clock out, ... I like to work with people (elderly, children, the public etc.)..etc"
when they ask "what do you think your best traits are", again they want to know how it applies to the position you are applying for...so ..."I believe I am a hard worker...or ... I have great communication skills" things like that. when they ask the real tricky question..."what do you think your worst traits are", you can say something like..."I used to type 33 wpm but I have been practicing at home on my computor and now my speed is up to 45wpm"..so what you want to do is take the trait that you feel you are lacking in and put a positive spin on it.

it is also ok to repeat the question like "so, you are asking..." "well let me think a sec,....I...(whatever the answer) this will tell the employer that you are thoughtful about your answers and not just bsing them to get the job.

if you don't have much experienc, you can use experiences of school and how you handled pressures there as examples to answer the questions.

again, the employer reallly wants to know how you view yourself as a person and a worker. this is sometimes more important that if you have the skills or experience to do the job. a great employee is one who is honest, thoughtful, doesn't waste time, wants to learn all there is about the company, and is pleasant to work with,

another part of the interview process that you may want to think about is the part when they ask you if you have any questions for them. DO NOT ask about wages. Before you go to your interview do a little research on the company and ask a question or two about their business, what they make, how they adverstise, etc. this will show the employer that you are truely interested in their company not just a job.

good luck in your interviews,
lily =)
