When will USPS be taken over by people who actually want customers?
Answers:
Probably never. Think IRS, DMV, Social Security Adminstration, Department of Education, Amtrak, and every other government agency/organization primarily funded by the government.
I'm suprised to hear that the USPS answers email. It's a direct competitor.
The USPS bleeds money, has unionized labor, provides an antiquated service, and has private competitors that do what it tries to do, better, faster, and cheaper.
If any government agency were ready to be unloaded, it would be the USPS... so no it will never be taken over by people who actually want customers.
Whatya gonna do - call your congressman?
Probably never. But for most stuff, I think that the USPS people are trying to do a decent job.
The USPS is a government agency. Since when do any of our goverment agencies function properly? Do you know what it takes to get fired from a government job? You practically have to go postal! (Pun intended.)
Basic business practices suggest...if you don't get the answer you want...escalate, escalate, escalate. Find a clever way to get around that number.
Try getting in touch with your area's postal supervisor. (ask at your local post office) Maybe they can tell you why the number is not working.
