Can advertising influence consumer behaviour or is money spent on it by many companies wasted?
Answers:
In addition to the obvious answers already given by others, consider this: If advertising couldn't influence consumer behaviour... then you wouldn't have billboards, commercials, TV programs, search engines like Yahoo, or even the Internet.
Someone's gotta pay the piper, and companies aren't so dumb as to continuously waste money on ads without measuring the effectiveness of their ad compaigns. If you have ever gotten a question such as "where did you hear about us?" from a company, you know they are measuring the effectiveness of their advertisements.
It does work. Many products are dependent on advertising. People tend to by things they know. Even if only from Advertising this is enough.
yes it does help, think back and i bet you have bought something that you saw on tv.
Yes, to both.
Two maxims (among ninety thousand or so) in the ad world
are, paraphrased, "Good advertising is like the engine car of a railroad train. Take it away and your business will slow from crawl to stop."; and, a famous wealthy investor said of his business experience, "I know, after years of being shown statistics and charts that half my money is being wasted. I just can't figure out which half."
Hope this helped.
Yes it can influence, no it isn't wasted. Just take a look at the pharmaceutical companies and give that some.
