How do pharmaceutical companies come up with the brand names of their drugs?
Answers:
Sometimes they just have a laugh...I saw a new illness diagnosed recently...restless legs syndrome where people move their legs in their sleep. Some bright spark made a medicine for it and I think its called Ropinarol
Im sure someones roping in a roll alright.
there is no fixed formula. jit depends upon the company owber or the scientist who created the particular madicine. just like our parents give us the name of their choice
I have suspected for years that the Pharmaceutical companies have a separate department... "The Tongue-in-Cheek" department, that comes up with some of the names.
Many medication names are intended to make it easy to remember not only the name of the medication but it's use as well. For example, "TIGAN" which stands for "This is Good Against Nausea" and "NITROBID" which stand for "Nitroglycerin BID (TWICE A DAY)"...
There are countless examples, but they all work similar to the above.
first the effect the drug may add to the patient..2nd easy to remember ,,3rd...mechanism of action..
