Do you think it's a good business venture to start an underage non-alcoholic nightclub in Chicago?
Suggestions please!
Answer:
I believe you're onto something, but speaking from my own experience, "Non-alcoholic," or not..alcohol, drugs, unprotected sex, and crime will find a way into your club and you will be liable to one or more angry parents at some point. As an underage teen, my friends and I regularly attended, "Non-alcoholic," church-sponsored parties regularly, and believe me...vice finds a way in every time even with a platoon of "Bible-Thumping chaperons" on hand, my friends and I managed to smuggle" various contraband in for the edification of all of us underage teens at the time..We got lucky at the party and managed to sneak outside and get lucky there too! Most parents, if they knew would want to hold someone besides their "precious little angels" responsible..And that would be you and the other proprietor's you enlist in your business. I'd look for another business activity for teens.
Might want to tone it down to 16-21..
its not a good idea, becuase most kids at that age are not allowed to stay out that night.
I've seen things like this in the city where I'm located. It has become a trouble spot. Its definitely worth exploring, but you'll have to consider how to police the crowds.
You would have to be very strict on the non-alcoholic part- we have had 3 in our town and they all got shut down because the of age drinker where buying and bringing in the alcohol to the minors.
Good Luck!
It can be a difficult business to run for a few reasons. One alcohol is a money maker. Two the liability is so much higher, kids show up drunk or high, make bad decisions and such, it's just the way they are, I was. Three - food is a tough business, Inventory management is a tough game to master and is what kills most restaurants. My guess is that there are none in the city because there's not been a formula to make it successful.
Sorry, didn't mean to pee in your cheerios.;
You can't have a night club without alcohol since alcohol is pretty much the main source of income. You won't make any money targeting underages unless you charge cover fee, which wouldn't be much because they won't have any money to pay to get in!! I mean, you have a good idea going, but you wouldn't want to deal with immature crowds that would more than likely cause you troubles more than anything. And then you have the 21-24 age range that's wondering "where's the booze!?" There are clubs here that separate underages with the rest - they'll have to go upstairs or something like that. So there's the "non booze" group and there's the booze group. But seriously though? I wouldn't want to visit a club with underage teens in there. Just not fun with them around. Hehe.
We used to have a club like that in our town that I frequented you should lower the age to 15-20 so you don't have the ones who are old enough to buy alcohol bringing it in have a person carding at the door so older people can't get in. Will need bouncer(s). and a good dj/selection of music(the right music will draw a larger crowd the wrong music or too many repeats will repel them) Have more than just a dance floor and food and virgin drinks have some video games and maybe some give aways like T-shirts or a car to draw a crowd. Need to watch for kids who sneak out of their parents house to go. Maybe even get on good terms with local taxi service and police as well.
I think it might be a good idea only if you either belong to some sought of sport or church organisation where the kids this age detest any form of alcohol. Instead of making your money through drinks you could have pool tables, darts etc. GOOD LUCK!
